MERCEDES - Sail plan

The Mercedes is a brig - a two masted and total square rigged sailing ship. 10 square sails can be set. For a good sailing balance the fore sails, the stay sails and the brig sail will be set, too.

A brig carries a large sail area and for that reason she can reach a high speed. The sailors on board of a brig must enter the masts daily in order to furl the sails.
